Halloween, super storm Sandy, soccer, Girl Scouts

Yes, the title of this post is straight from a FB post my sister sent me on all the things I could & should blog about.

So...here goes...

Halloween - the holiday that lasted NINE days. Yes, nine. Longer than Hannukah. It started the Saturday before the actual holiday with a parade and trunk or treat. On Sunday Keira had her friend Samantha's Halloween party which was so much fun! Then a little storm named Sandy came to town (more on her later) and Halloween itself was cancelled. The following Saturday (yes, a week after the first Halloween event) we spent the morning trick or treating at a little mall. This was partly for the candy but mostly to keep warm from our heat-less house. Finally, on November 5th we pretended it was October 31st and went door to door for tricks or treats. Keira never got so much mileage out of a Halloween costume.

Super Storm Sandy - the hurricane/tropical storm/frankenstorm hit on Monday. School had already been cancelled Sunday night. We had power most of the day but once it was off it stayed off for 6 long days/nights. School was cancelled for a total of 4 days. We stuck it out as best we could retreating to Grandpa & Juh-Juh's for one night. We also have great friends, the Grompone's who fed us and another family one Friday night and let us hang in their home on Sunday while they were at a christening. It was an adventure to say the least. Keira was really beyond great throughout but it is not something I want to experience ever again.

***THERE ARE NO PICTURES BECAUSE THAT WAS THE LAST THING FROM MY MIND***

Soccer - Keira didn't hate soccer but she certainly didn't love it. She stuck out the season though like a true team player and we were proud of her for that. It was definitely fun to be a "soccer mom" for a couple of months.

Girl Scouts - Daisies has been slow going. The first meeting was cancelled due to Sandy. The troops did do the traditional Halloween painting of local businesses windows. The Emerson Public Library got a spooky little makeover courtesy of 20-something kindergarten girls.

So there you have it. Sorry for the sideways pictures.
